Terms of Use
Last updated: July 2026
Welcome to Atlas Anatolia (“the Site”), accessible at atlasanatolia.com. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Purpose
Atlas Anatolia is an educational and cultural heritage platform that provides information about major archaeological sites of the ancient world across every continent. The content is intended for educational, research, and personal use.
2. Content & Accuracy
We strive to provide accurate and well-sourced information. However, archaeological knowledge evolves, and we make no warranty that all content is complete, current, or error-free. Our content clearly distinguishes between established facts, scholarly inferences, and debated interpretations.
Content on this site should not be used as a sole academic source. We encourage users to consult the original sources cited on each site page.
3. Intellectual Property & Licenses
The Atlas Anatolia name, logo, and site design are the property of Atlas Anatolia. They may not be used as a trademark or to imply endorsement without written permission.
Original editorial text on this Site (site pages, stories, and related copy we write) is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) licence. You may share and adapt that text with attribution and share-alike.
Photographs and other media are generally sourced from Wikimedia Commons, The Metropolitan Museum of Art (CC0), and similar open-license repositories. Each reproduced image is credited to its author (or source) and used under the applicable licence shown with the credit — commonly CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0, or Public Domain. Local copies hosted on atlasanatolia.com are redistributions of those works; attribution and licence notices appear under in-article images, beside hero photography where available, and in this Legal notice for programmatic context.
Quotations in editorial content are attributed to their authors or clearly marked as paraphrases / editorial summaries. Scripture and classical extracts are cited with book or work where applicable. Evidence labels (Confirmed, Inferred, Debated) are interpretive aids, not legal or academic warranties.
4. Third-Party Content
The Site integrates or references content from third-party sources including Wikipedia, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sketchfab, Europeana, OpenAlex, Wikimedia Commons, OpenStreetMap, and map tile providers. Those materials remain subject to their own terms and licences. We are not responsible for the accuracy or continuous availability of third-party content.
5. User Conduct
You agree not to: (a) use the Site for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site's systems; (c) scrape, crawl, or harvest personal data or overwhelm the Site in a way that impairs service (bulk reuse of our CC BY-SA editorial text remains subject to that licence); (d) interfere with the Site's operation or other users' experience.
6. Limitation of Liability
Atlas Anatolia is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the Site. This includes, but is not limited to, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
7. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of any changes.
